RIBERY is not the player you all think he is!

Seeing as everyone is raving about little 5'7 Franck Ribery I thought I'd ruin everyone's day by stating the obvious.

Yes he is apparently Thierry Henry's "best friend in football".Yes he looked like a nippy winger in the World Cup.

But that's not reason enough to spank the cash on him.

The one thing everyone is overlooking are his statistics for this season at Olympique de Marseille and the numbers never lie.

Take a look at his o6-07 season stats HERE and it doesn't make very impressive reading.

These stats were achieved in what most observers see as a less superior league. If you concede that mediocre stats achieved in a mediocre league are worth the kind of money being associated with his potential move then you are either an optimist or a Russian Billionaire playing Championship Manager.

His CAREER STATS are not that impressive either.

Simply put he's not a goal scoring midfielder.

So why is everyone saying he is? Maybe its because we all yearn for Robert Pires to be replaced and little Franck is the nearest we can find, but mark my words, the most difficult replacement of Wenger's latest revolution will be to replace D'artagnan. His goals and assists are sadly missed.
